965 high OC fail

Man I feel like such a newb. Just picked up a brand new 965 and I can't even get it stable at 211 x 18.5(3903) at 1.48v. Sticking with 18.5 cause I'm greedy and want C&Q to keep running. Is that my fail? If I go to 200 x 19 or 19.5 would that work better? Can phenom tweaker or one of those programs keep c&q running past 18.5 multiplier?

what temps are you running at? on my 955be on the stock cooler i could only hit 3.6 whit temps at about 60c, then i went whit water and i could hit 3.9 whit 1.55v core temps in the low 40s, now i am running chilled water and i can hit 4.5@ 1.725v core but keep it at 4.3 at 1.675. so your clock sounds about right. try upping your v core to 1.55 if your temps are below 50c, and try 200x20 and see if it works.

Yes, using PhenomMsrTWeaker will allow you to simulate the effects of CnQ with a multiplier past 18.5.

yes, you will need a higher multi to go higher, or your chip is a dud

Gotta be the temps cause I'm hovering at 59 under p95. My cooler master vortex plus was good for 3.6 on my 720 but it's not enough anymore

Ok so I abandoned C&Q and have gone straight multiplier. However now I'm getting a phantom voltage drop under load. I set the proc at 200x20 @ 1.55v... I load up p95 and slowly but surely I'm watchign Asus pc-probe and the voltage just keeps dropping to about 1.42-1.45 and the rig reboots or blue screens. Does this just mean my power subsystem blows and can't handle anything above 1.45ish?

That's vdroop or LLC. Set your LLC to 50 or 100% and see if that helps anything.

How do I find that setting in the BIOS? Is it called LLC?

On newer Asus boards, it is LLC. On other boards, it can be called vdroop. Some lower-end boards and older boards don't have this option at all.

You should be able to find it in the section below the voltage section.It's called Load-line Calibration.

Holy crap now I'm stable at 200x20 . Yay for LLC! But now I need a new cooler because I keep creeping over 62C under load. Got one coming hopefully it does the trick.
