9600xt vs 9800pro

You do know the differences between a 9800 Pro and a 9600 XT right? The 9600XT performances less then a 9700 Pro. Get the 9800 Pro, it's a no brainer.
 
Performance isn't dependent on speed for graphics cards anymore.... look at the X800's, when you crank the AA and AF they blow the 9800's out of the water, but the clock speed on them isn't that different.

I have the 9800 Pro ( r350 w/ samsung 2.8ns).... never bothered flashing it to XT b/c there's no visible difference and I can't activate the temp sensor. I don't tend to oc my graphics cards either... when you look at the FPS increase from overclocking, for most games it's only around a 3-6 FPS increase... not worth it in my opinion.

If you're into benching though, check the core and if it's an r360 you can flash the BIOS to XT and then activate the shaders and temp sensor that the 9800 XT has. First, use Atitool or something similiar and see if your card can oc to around 415/375.... if it can't then I'm not sure if the flashing works correctly, I might be wrong but that's what I heard.
 
Here's a little education for you, just to help in the future.

That 9600XT - 500/680
9800P - 380/600

It clearly looks like the 9600XT wins. However, it has only four pipelines, in comparison to eight on the 9800P. If you think of the 9800P as "380x2 = 760" due to this, you might get a better idea of relative performance. Also the 9800P uses 256-bit memory while the 9600XT uses 128-bit. 256-bit is definitely superior.

thanks for all the help the card i was looking @ was onlyt about 50 more is it worth spending the mone to get the 256 version and s flashing the BIOS hard, and if i fail is it fixable?
