ok, i see thousands of threads with 9600XT, and i dont know if SE is the same as XT, but anyways, ok, I just got a new pc about a week to two weeks ago, I have a Radeon 9600SE in it now, my motherboard has AGP 8x. Well, I tried to set my video card to 8x but it keeps resetting back to 4x after my PC boots back up. So I thought it was something in my BIOS I had to change, but my BIOS tells me it's set to 8X, and the video card will not set to 8X.

any idea?

Good question. :)

First of all, although it is a bit of an annoyance, you will not see any real difference with a 9600se at 8x... you are memory bandwith limited.

I can offer a few suggestions, however.

1) I would suggest you start by updating your motherboard drivers.

2) Update your motherboard's BIOS.

3) Be sure you are using the most up-to-date ATI Catalyst drivers (currently 4.1)

Theres a big difference between the SE and XT. The SE or "Shitty Edition" is the basic 9600 with less memory channels and lower clock speed GPU and bus speeds. The XT "eXtreme- Technology" is the 9600 PRO with a higher GPU speed and higher bus speeds.
 
ok, i got the catalyst drivers and installed them and now my AGP setting is set to "off" and will not go any higher, now even to 4x :mad:
 
once again like was said above, check your AGP settings in your mobo bios, you might have it turned down in there. If not check for bios updates.
