Get the 9600P. You can overclock 9600NP, but then u need to use modified driver cause ATI locked 9600NP clock speed in CATALYST model higher than 03.4.

im a hater of the 9600s :(

avoid powercolor at all cost

Why? Cheap, relatively fast, plenty of performance for the price. Only the 9600SE sucks in the whole series.

And why does it suck? because you can call it either the Stripped Edition or the Sucky Edition. It is a 9600 non-pro with 64bit memory, which makes it slow naturally.

I love my 9600xt, like I said, great performance for the price.

Ok I have heard only bad thingys about the 9800SE (remember SE= sucky edition) I have seen articles testing the 9800SE and finding it to be slower than a 960Pro - so my suggestion - look around and see if you can find articles that test the 9800SE and how it compares to the 9600Pro/9800 standard - if its better than a 9600pro then fine -if not well ...

aye but at least if you get lshaped 9800se, you may be able to softmod up

You probably won't find a L-shaped SE because it has 64-bit memory bus.

As far as those certain cards go from slowest to fastest...

9600SE, 9600NP, 9800SE, 9600Pro, 9600xt, 9800NP...

If you can find a 9800NP, definetely worth it.

Maybe because the 5900SE/NU ones beat all of them signifigantly at the same price.

there are l-shaped 9800se although they are a rarity. if you look on pricewatch, some sellers claim to sell 256bit 9800se's. you may be able to hassle them about it

but yeah, look around. there are l-shaped se's
