is this at all possable? a friend of mind said he is buying one and i knwo its not possable from what i read since the 9500pro has a diff design from the 9500/9700/9700pro
am i wrong?

If your talking about softmodding, it wont.

I heard people overclocking to 9700pro speeds though but nothing is garenteed

You're right, DV. Softmod was for the 9500nP only. What you can do with a stock 9500P is flash the BIOS (to unlock the clocks) and o/c it.

If you want more performance after that then you can upgrade the cooling, volt-mod it, and bump up the clocks again.

The 9500 np that could be software moded used 9700 PCBs with the 256-bit mem bus. The 9500 Pros on the other hand use a different PCB. So no, it's not possible.

You can skip the softmod and try a hard mod if your handy with soldering. I had my old 9500pro hardmoded to 9700 pro and it worked great, unlocks the 4 locked pipelines.

ahh, no, you are waaaaaayyyy off.

9500pros already have all 8 pipes unlocked. the main difference between the 9500pro and 9700 series is that the 9700 series have the "L" configuration on the memory layout indicating a 256bit memory bus, on the other hand the 9500pro's have a "I" configuration on the memory indicating a 128bit memory bus. There is no need to softmod a 9500pro cause you cant do anything about the memory bus. Now the 9500np's came in two different flavors. In both the "I" and "L" memory configurations. Now the main difference between the 9500np and 9500pro is that the np's have 4 pipes disabled. You can mod the 9500np with "I" configuration to 8 pipes essentially making it a 9500pro. You can mod the 9500np with "L" configuration to 8 pipes making it essentially a 9700np.
