I tried searching the forums and googled information for an hour and im sorta confused.

I have a MSI 8800gts, i know that my current power supply is a cheap POS and i need a better one to support my 8800gts, and i need one that will support SLI for the future when i get another 8800gts.

Heres where im confused. All of what i can gather, is that the 8800gts needs a 12v rail at 24A, yet i cant find ANY power supplies that support over 20A on the 12V rails, and even then, those are few. So am i misunderstanding something? i was looking at getting a 650WATT Power Supply, but i cant find the one i need due to the 12v rail buisness.

Thanks for the help.

SLI 8800GTS? Okay.

The entire system needs a 24a psu. The card itself takes significantly less power than that.

I recommend this psu, which is $124 after mail in rebate. It offers a single 50a +12v rail (the label isn't true), it's very quiet, modular, and just plain sexy.

are you looking at like quad rails and dual rails? i have seen tons of ones even dual rails with easy over 22amps. PC Power & Cooling Silencer makes i think the best ones and they have models with over 50 amps on the 12v if you dont want to deal with dual and quad rails

It is the combined 12v rating of 24amps...not 24amps on just one rail.

As an example:
If you have 2 12v's with 18amps on each and a combined rating of 420 weatts that is a 35amp combined 12v rating...which exceeds the 24amp recommendation.

each 12v rail doesnt need 24A each for the 8800gts? just a 24a total? okay then, thats 12a on each rail. thanks

And thats for the link, awesome!

Remember: you get what you pay for. Bling costs money.

Pass on it. Terrible power supply, overinflated ratings, it's a fucking joke.

I recommend this psu. Not as bling-y, but it's the insides that count and that's where Corsair wins.
