Regarding the 8800GTS:

I want to run to one LCD monitor (via DVI) and also use the HDTV out (via the included component cable). I want to display the same image. What kind of impact does that have on the performance of the video card? I just want to be able to display the same thing on my TV.

Also, how long can you run component cables? Is there some kind of threshold you hit when you start to see deterioration in the signal? Basically I'm trying to run a poor-man's HTPC.

The 512MB should do fine running dual setup. What size LCD and resolution you plan on running? As far as component cables, you can go pretty long. There are also component extenders that can go 330 feet. But, if you don't want to buy this then you can go 25-50 feet. Some have said they have seen the blacks deteriorate a bit in quality though when you run the cables longer.
