8800gts 320 replace?

Curious as to what the cheapest card out there will double up performance of my current 8800gts 320? Brand unimportant

The 8800GTS 320MB performs somewhere between a 3850 and a 3870. Therefore, the 5770 1GB, for $150 or so on newegg, should be about double the performance of an 8800GTS 320MB. The roughly equivalent GTX 260 896MB is... not even really available on newegg, which is the problem with buying Nvidia at the moment.

I went from a 8800GTS 320 to a 5850, and could not be happier. Especially if you are doing high res gaming, would recommend the 5850...it's just nice to not have to think about what settings you are running. Put everything to high, and go.

First exhausts heat out the back and second is quieter. You're pick.

do i need a gig of onboard? I can get the 512mb model for 129 at the egg. I game at 1900x1200 if i can, but drop down a notch if lagging. i run a dell 2405fpw monitor.

Is this accurate??? If it is, that means a 150 dollar gfx card (the 5770 1gb) will be even more of an improvement for me. I only have an 8800GT with 512 onboard (STOP LAUGHING ! )

I haven't upgraded gfx in quite some time.

I went from an 8800GTS 320 to a 4870 512mb (which is similar performance to a 5770) and I wouldn't call it a revolutionary change, more of an evolutionary change. Its probably close to twice the framerate (not quite twice), but in game terms that just means going from medium to high settings at 1680x1050 to high to very high settings at 1920x1080.

For gaming at 1920x1200, I would definitely want more than 512MB, whatever card I got.

The 4870 1GB and GTX 260 are equal in performance, trading blows depending on the game. The 5770 1GB is slightly behind the 4870 1GB, but it's only notable at high AA and resolution in games like Crysis. Nvidia cards above the GTS 250 are hard to find and much too expensive unless you buy used.

go check the for sale forums?? i know right now there is a gtx 275 896mb or whatever the 8** mb is ... for like 125 plus shipping or something... Don't buy from anyone, but its easy to find the reputable hard members who are selling good stuff for cheap so they can always have the top notch stuff... i'm sure many still have warrantys and everything.

after further reading think I am gonna go the 5770 route. DX11 support probably gonna be the decideing factor. gonna have card for a bit and that seems the way to go.

anyone here selling one? otherwise I may go egg or what a bit.
