Hey guys, if I set WEP mode on my 802.11n router does it mean it has to kicks back to 802.11g speed due to specs? I'm trying to get the fastest throughput and WPA/WPA2 are causing some odd slow downs, where as if I do not encrypt it does not have slow downs.

Do you guys think in terms of wireless security, is this okay?
- No Encryption
- MAC address filtering On
- Hide BSSID

This is basically to stream HD contents across two 10'x10' rooms.

I know hardwiring is a better option, but I want to give 802.11n a chance.

Scratch that, WEP forces 802.11g speed is confirmed. Needs to be WPA-AES or above for 802.11n speed. I guess I'm going hardwired.

I cannot answer the question about 802.11n+WEP...but I can tell you hiding your BSSID and creating a MAC filter will be more of an inconvenience to you than protection against someone trying to get into your network. Your SSID would be found within a few minutes and any associated clients (...and their MAC) would follow after a few more minutes.

Yeah, I figured. I am in an isolated area, but I decided to just go hard wire - time to bring out the sledge hammer. >:)
