7970 Waterblock Question

Hello I am just finishing up a computer build, and about to purchase my Video Cards.

I am buying X4 7970s

I am going with the GPU waterblock from Koolance:

From what I had read it has to be a reference 7970 card for this block to work.

This is the card I was planning on purchasing:

I just wanted to make sure this waterblock would fit onto this card.

I want to make sure before I plop this $1720.00 on videocards :)



Any help is greatly apprecaited, my case will be here Saturday from Mountainmods. Going to be running X2 Corsair 1200 water power supplys and X3 360 Rads.

That particular videocard IS a reference design, so you should have no issues with the waterblock you have chosen.
 
Yup, that will do but again, as stressed, for reference models only. The main reason is that the GPU chip is recessed so the waterblock has to account for this and add a bit extra material to cover the gap. That is a huge problem with the universal blocks which did not have the extra metal (e.g., they were completely flat) which requires them to have a copper shim. You can tell from the picture that the block does in fact have the extra metal protruding out to touch the recessed GPU.
