7970 benchies...

Did you look at that link above at all? You know, the CPU usage on the 7970 cards? At 1920x1200 resolution it barely makes a difference. I came to this board for help, all I am finding is fanbois blinded by their own Intel CPUs!!!! Do some research before you post please. I am not some "redneck moron" fresh from the corn rows, I know my way around a computer, obviously more than some of you do. The issue was figured out to be the 7970 in an x8 PCI-e port, instead of a x16 port. But still everyone claims it's the CPU. Please bring something new and fresh to the table instead of AMD slamming. Not everyone is as ignorant as that.

Anyways. I got my new FX-8150 installed today (most likely my CPU will bottleneck when booting up or running a simple text program. Does Aero work with this memory? ;-). No OCs yet, still getting my updates and drivers.

Its already proven that a amd system is more responsive than a similiar more expensive and better system from Intel.
99.9% wont know the difference in actual use anyhow.:p
and amd overclocks just fine nowadays also.

smart choice IMO to go amd.
 
Have you tried uninstalling the drivers, trying different drivers, trying the drivers included on the disc that came with the video card? CPU doesn't matter at all in your problem.... you've observed lower performance from the 7970 vs your old card on the same system... all is equal. If performance was about the same then one could maybe argue that it's a CPU bottleneck.

How's the new CPU overclocking?
 
You are CPU limited. Also, just because your CPU isn't at 100% all the time it doesn't mean you're not being limited by it. I know that CPU is probably your baby, and your sweetie, and was probably once the highlight of your PC, but by today's standards it sucks balls and is holding your awesome new video card back.

Let it go, man.
 
Haven't started OC'ing yet. Just got it built Wednesday night. Got my games and stuff on it Thursday night. Hoping to work on the OC this weekend. Got some benchies donw on the SSD RAID 0 array. I figured it would be faster than that. Might be a driver issue, dunno.

Odd mobo. It defaulted my DDR3-1600 to DDR3-1066. I went to bump it back up to 1600 and the ratios must be linked because the CPU and buss speed went with it. Only, upon reboot my CPU was 3.973GHz and my RAM was down to DDR3-880!!! All is back to normal now.

I won't argue that Intel is faster, doesn't mean the AMDs are a slouch though. You can dress this up anyway you all like to justify the money you spent on your CPUs and mobos.
