I believe that the GeforceFX 5200 is DX9, and you could probably find one for around $75. However, its a horrible performer and you're better off keeping your existing video card.

If I were you I wouldn't look to buy anything less than a Radeon 9600 Pro. Thats probably not what you want to hear considering its more expensive, but honestly you won't be happy with the performance of any card below this.

get a softmoddable 9800se... its about 2x more than you said, but thats what you can get... check out the fs forum, and ask for offers

$75 isn't enough for a halfway decent performer. Save more money or don't buy anything.

Well, first of all, you're not going to find a "good" dx9 video card for $75 bucks. by "good" I mean one that plays dx9 games with anything like acceptable performance.
If you have to have dx9 compatibility, and you can't spend any more money, I'd recommend this or if you can spend a little more: this

It is not worth it to buy any direct x 9 card under $100, performancewise it will not be fast enough despite being feature rich. If I had to, I would get a radeon 9600 se even though it has severely castrated memory bandwidth.

The 5200FX is a outstanding performer in DX9 in all of the majorly graphic instensive games...thats is if...

you wanna take screen shots

well teh video card is your problem, for $75 your best bet is a Geforce 5200Ultra, and if you set all of your settings on Low, youll be just fine, the more $$ you put towards a video card the better performance youll get, so i wud recommend to keep saving

Save more money to buy a decent video card. For a DX9 card, I think the least you should get is a Radeon 9600 Pro, but one of the best deals right now is the 9800 Pro.

Keep stashing that money; the FX5200 is okay, but only if you keep all graphics down.

You sound like you want a dx9 card just for the sake of saying " i have a dx9 card"

You wont be even able to use any dx9 features on that card because you will be getting 5fps!

PS: Ill sell you my Ti4200 for $50 shipped after i get my 6800gt this week :D :D

A 4200 for $50 w/ shipping included is a good deal, it will perform better than anything that you could get new for that price.

Agreed, but it wont have a warrenty.

it probably still does actually, i just got it 2 months ago from newegg, i never bother with warranty stuff though.

You can get a 9600NP for about $95 so I'd think that you could find a refurb for around your price, best bet if you ask me.

Hey xfast, just remember that everything is relative. Some people truly feel that if they play any game at less that 16X aniso and 8X AA and 1600x1200 at 200fps they are getting cheated, and the card sucks. On the other hand there are people who play just about everything on their GF2 mx200 at 800x600 with medium settings and are happy as can be. You can still play a DX9 game on older equipment, for example, TRON 2.0 played acceptably on my Radeon 7500 32 DDR MB – sure the eye candy was not as fantastic, but it was still a fun game. As for this whole FX5200 debate, the hard-core games will never accept the FX5200, but I briefly owned an ASUS V9520 FX5200, and after a lot of testing, it performed almost exactly as my GF3 Ti500. Regardless of what many people say, it is not a BAD card, it is simply not as high performance as a Radeon 9800 or a GF FX5900. It is what it is: a low-end DX9 compatible graphics card that still has playable performance.

exactly you dont need a $400 dollar video card to play computer games. Everyone around here seems to think you do.
