I am going to purchase the Dell 2407 Rev A04 for PS3 gaming mainly, because it is good for 1080p and can 1:1 pixel map correctly.

But people keep telling me that only very few PS3 games are made in 1080p. And most games in the future, including the big titles will be in 720p.

I dont mind this, but I am wondering what 720p looks like on the Dell when streched to full screen.

Does it look shit? Can anyone post a picture?

Many thanks

Cant speak for PS3 but I have 360 set to 1080p via VGA.....though games are rendered at 720p...I posted this (Splinter Cell-DA) a while back......aspect is set to 1:1 with little borders on top and bottom but very hard to notice. Tried "Fill" mode which doesn't look too bad but I prefer the true aspect. No ghosting issues either for 360 games so far. Currently playing Shivering Isles and its soooooo beautiful.

Thanks Frag.

But the X360 has a built in scaler, so games that are in 720p are upscaled and look great on a 24 inch screen.

However the PS3 has no scaler, so I am wondering what 720p PS3 games look like when stretched to full screen. Do they look crap on this monitor?

Also, do you think a scaler will ever be put into the PS3? Firmware update perhaps?

It would be really helpful to me if someone can talk about their 720p gaming experiences on the 2407WFP.

Thanks!!

Also, anyone know if the latest version of the 2407WFP (Rev A04) will allow 1080i over DVI with PS3?

Can someone please tell me what 720p stretched to full screen is like!! Do you have any photos?

I'm really pissed off that this monitor wont do 1080i over DVI.

Does the BenQ do 1080i over DVI or HDMI?

And has the BenQ sorted out its pixel mapping problem yet?

I have the PS3 hooked up via HDMI-DVI on this monitor and it looks great.

I have set it to fill and honestly it doesn't matter which if you're using aspect, or fill it won't look stretch at all. 1:1 doesn't work well actually with the PS3 with this monitor as it produces screen tearing.

In any case, you don't have to worry, it looks great.

I'm confused why you would want 1080i ?!?
Yes Benq has sorted out the 1:1 problem. I had that monitor and returned it only because I got a great deal on the Dell and I'm more price conscious. If you're not, I would get the Benq if I was you for the extra HDMI input for no hassle.

And also, I found the menu HUD on the Benq is very awkward as the buttons are on the side.

Thanks a lot. Are you saying 720p looks ok in fill/aspect? Or 1080p looks ok in fill/aspect?

Because some PS3 games are up to 720p only (no 1080i). Therefore the monitor would have to display 720p stretched.

I dont know if 720p stretched on a 22 inch or 24 inch display looks good or crap?!

Trust me, because of aspect ratio, it wil not look stretched. There are 1080P games for your information and more will come about as the console matures.
