thats an interesting question


a unified architecture of a single card is probably safer
but more importatntly, there is limited memory to load RAID card BIOS, with a typical startup and run time value (the later being smaller) I know that is often an issue with mixing 2 RAID cards (Promise) and SCSI cards as well

So Id say the Escalade is the safe bet
besides you could then employ Hardware RAID5
a superior solution
