6970 bios flash gone wrong

Just a reminder for those suggesting RMA fraud..which this clearly would be since he broke the card himself during a flash

Thank you. Seriously I can't stand these people who want to RMA a card they broke with their stupid actions and find it ok.

Did XFX support get back to you yet?

nope but i may have found a loophole.

I told newegg about it too. The product is not as pictured.

If you look, you can see a backplate, and a BIOS switch.

This card is the exact same model number, and is not the same picture. We're not stupid enough to try to install a custom BIOS without a fallback plan, and when I read the review on HardOCP, the dual BIOS switch was a huge factor in this card being selected over a GTX580 for this particular build.

On XFX's website, they show the switch on the card at 3:48 into the video, they also show the backplate.

I think these are important omissions for the company to not list on their website.

is it a dick thing to do? yeah it is. is it a dick thing to omit two parts of a card to save money, then sell them to customers who can't hold the product in hand before a purchase? yeah.

I've never messed with a VGA bios in my life, and I likely wouldn't have had tried it had I realized there was no dual bios switch.

I didn't even realize it was missing a backplate until I went to order another one on newegg.

Your serial number is most likely a tiny bit different, or it says something like V1.0 or V1.1

Your card is not supposed to have a dual bios since this is a custom made one by XFX. Is it shit, yes, but did you get what you bought, yes. Newegg didn't update their pictures, so you can still get something else there I guess.
