Hi guys...
I want to upgrade my 6950 and i have about 300-350 to spend on a video card.
any recommendations?

Thanks

670 or 7970 in that price range. Either card will suit your needs unless you are playing at 5720x1080.

7970 is better, then 670. in my eyes for 350 you can even find a used 680

Why do you feel the need to upgrade from a HD6950?

i've been experiencing lag on far cry 3 and few other games so i guess its time to upgrade.
I have the i5 2500 so i don't believe the cpu is the issue.

some of my friends told that nvidia drivers are much more stable than amd drivers, although i had no issues with my 6950 for the last 2 years...what do you think?
should i get the 7970 or the gtx 670

thanks for the help guys...

I've been playing FC3 on my unlocked 6950 and notice lag mainly when I enable HDAO. Playing with HBAO feels a bit smoother though frames are negligibly better. Also, I set shadows to high and leave PostFX on low, MSAA 2x.

I have a feeling drivers and game patches will improve the jitter and laggy AMD performance issues.

If you have been happy with your AMD 6950, I would stick with the 7970 as it is slightly faster than the 670. Unless you are running crossfire in certain configurations, then AMDs drivers have been great as of late.

Might as well just wait for next gen. Spending $300 to get an incremental upgrade is not worth it, especially just for a single game.

7970 is a very solid upgrade from a 6950. 6950 is equivalent to a 7850 right now. Sell your current card and it won't cost you that much to upgrade.
