i had my e6600 @3 ghz but i cant squeeze a MHZ outta this quad ive raised voltages everything else what am i doing wrong!!!! its a G0 btw.evga 80i MB

Voltages 1.45 ive got corsair xms2 800mhz with the pretty led lights help!!!

is it an e6600 or a q6600. thread title says one, actual thread says another. if it's an e6600, i'd say bump the volts. if it's a q6600, i'd say start trying to find a FSB hole in your 680i that you need to jump over.

also, what revision of the 680i is your board, because there's 4 or more, and if it's a q6600, we may already have our answer

i beleive hes saying he had his e6600@3ghz but he cant oc his q6600 at all.

well, you're a better man than I if that' how you deciphered that message! if he was able to OC the e6600, but not the Q6600, and can only go to 3GHz, that sounds about right for a non-A1 revision eVGA 680i board. The TR, T1, and AR revision boards were NOT meant to OC the Quads well. This is the reason you will see people post the revision number of the board when they sell it in the FS/FT section. A1 is the most sought after because of this, and consequently, carries the highest price tag because of it. Q6600 at 3GHz, is like this:

Stock bus speed = 266MHz (stock) x 9x (stock multiplier) = 2400
OC'd bus speed (curently) = 333MHz x 9x multiplier = 3000

The revisions other than A1 were not designed to push the Quads over 333, period.

Now, if he has the A1, and can't get it over 3000, then I would ask what the cooler is on that thing, what his temps are like at that speed and voltage (at idle and load), what his PSU is, and if he's hunted down the possibility of an FSB hole.

im talking about a q6600 and cpuz says my revision is a2 so am i screwed? im getting so sick of this hole 680i thing i might have to go intel and run ati's. the fans and temps drive me nutz and im water cooled anyway any suggestions?

what does the model # sticker on the board say? the last 2 characters are what matters most. im guessing cpu-z reading a2 means AR in eVGA models. if that's the case, then yes, you are screwed.
