ok i have a 6800ultra and i am wondering how would i go about connecting the two molex connecters? do i use two seperate lines for the videocard only??!!!??!! or can i plug some fans/harddrives/ide drives etc too? because my psu.. 450w antec only has 3 seperate lines that has two molex 4 pin connectors on each.... which is 6 molex 4-pin in all.... and i have 5 fans... 2 harddrive sata that i use a sata adaptor which only take one molex... and two cd and a dvd rom drive...... and the reason i want to connect them seperately is to overclock.. which is better with two dedicated lines.. wut should i do?????? :confused: and o yeah i have two Y splitters
 
you might need a better psu anyways because you do have a lot of other things. I thought the Ultras came with splitters anyways
 
yeah the two Y splitters were from the ultra.. damn i shouldve waited for the gt... grrrr
 
You can run it off one line from the psu. The instructions that come with most ultra's clearly state this. If you want to overclock it, then i'd recommend using 2 seperate lines.
 
Im running mine off 1 line, but its a dedicated line. I would split it between 2 if you can, but either way its fine.
 
I'd seriously consider upgrading your PSU as well. I had to recently go from an Antec Trupower 430 to what I've got now. Not using two dedicated molex connectors limits the power availible to the card and the Ultra will alter it's performance based on how much juice it's got. I'd get error messages about trying to operate at resolutions that were too high. My case has seven fans and I just added another HD so I really needed the extra juice. Plus it's nice knowing I'm not handicapped in any way with regard to performance.

It's from a few months ago but it made up my mind about the issue.
 
My Ultra specifically states to use two separate lines for the power. I think it's just a case of spreading the load - use a connector from each of two separate lines, but you can still plug other things in to the same line - you don't need to have two entirely dedicated lines just for the card.

yes that is wut i am doing now... and it hinders my overclock way too much.. u see when i had EVERYTHING plugged in.. i can only overclock 425-->a puny 430.. any higher than it would hard lock... then i took off everything on the ultra line... had to disconnect 2 ide and 2 fans.. and my new overclock was 425---50... and i havent tred any higher.. so yeah that's why..
 
I use a single dedicated line with two molex on it and it works great. I hope this is helpful
