6800NU SLI benches

Electromigration is not caused by heat, it is caused by over voltage. It's a side effect of quantum electron tunnelling. High heat does contribute to the process, but it is mainly a function of high current. Eventually it causes inhibition of the conductor paths.

Early Northwood core users who overvolted found this out the hard way.

As for overclocking being meaningless for performance I have to disagree. While it *can* be a meaningless endeavor, a good overclock on a mid range videocard can make the difference between 10x7 and 12x10, all other eye candy settings being equal.

The "meaningless" OCs I was talking about are on the high end parts (X800 XT PEs, 6800Us) where you're never going to OC enough to make any real difference, the parts are already too close to their max.

I could probably get some decent gains OCing this set, but it already runs at or above 6800U performance for the most part, so there's not a lot of point to it.

My 5800 that I OCd from 400/800>500/1000, that was a worthwhile OC! ;)

Gotcha ;)

And yes, that sounds like it was a good OC. My 6600 GT SLI rig definitely gets a noticable boost from overclocking as well.
