6800GT glitches?

I have a 6800GT, and it used to work fine, but lately there have been some graphical glitches. For example, there will be white patches of twitching light in Far Cry and WC3, and some graphics look kind of jagged.

What could be causing this? I have the newest drivers installed, 71.80 I believe.
 
Actually the newest drivers are 77.50

Is your card overheating? What temps do you get? Give more info like... when you see those white artifacts, when do they start appearing? After 1 hour of playing?
 
They start appearing right away.

In WC3, even the opening game menus show some glitches, and Half Life 2 has them from the start in game. It worked well previously, I am not too sure what happened. Perhaps it is the driver, but I reinstalled and nothing happened.

The temps are: GPU Core= 65c , and ambient=49c. The slowdown threshold is at 135c.

These are with no game running, just Windows and a few apps.

65C idle? Get Rivatuner and record them and see how high they go up during load. I'm willing to bet you're getting near 100C during load.

Or download Rthdrbl and watch the temps after about 10 minutes, you'll be amazed how hot that will push the card.
 
It is PCI-E, so I don't think I can run AGP4x.

I read somewhere that disabling fastwrite may help. I looked in the bios, and did not find that option. Where would it be?
 
Fastwrite is an AGP setting. If you have PCI-e, you won't have fastwrite.
