Citing “industry sources”, DigiTimes is reporting that Microsoft’s plans to manufacture the Xbox 360 CPU at 65nm will be delayed until the second half of next year. Both Microsoft and Chartered had no comment on this rumor.

Microsoft Taiwan declined to comment on the news, while Chartered also declined to comment, stating it did not comment on the production schedule of any of its customers. In April 2006, Chartered announced that it had signed an agreement with Microsoft to manufacture CPUs for the Xbox 360 console on 65nm Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) technology starting in the first quarter of 2007.

They should make it smaller, maybe like the slim ps2, would be neat to see a real difference at the consumer level and not just at the manufacturing level.
