62c during a lockup?

My computer has been locking up lately, but when I checked the vid card temp right after it returned, it reported at only 62c. Specs:
Athlon 64 3200+
Chaintech Zenith ZNF-130
Geforce 6800
SATA 160gb
Scorpio 668 w/ 5 case fans
1 GB (2 x 512) Corsair PC3200

Whenever I have my video card overclocked even a little bit, it freezes up. The manufuncturer is eVGA, but I can't recieve tech support from them because my parents threw away the box, which had the serial in it. Sometimes, it freezes up even when I don't have it overclocked, which is making me extremely aggravated. My CPU and ambient Diodes apparantly don't work with the few remaining temperature monitors, and I have to rely on the BIOS, which I can't access quickly during loads. I have the latest drivers for nearly everything, and I need to find out why everything seems to be going wrong.

When I first had the card, I could OC it to 360/850 with rarely ANY problems. Now, I'm getting problems everywhere. I have never once gotten an artifact, even with the mem clock to 880. I had the clock speed to default 325, and it still froze up, which led me to believe that the memory was causing the lockups. I then set my clock speed to 360 and my memory to default (700), but it still locked up. It seems I can't get a decent 30 mins in without it locking up during full screen apps.

Can anyone help me? I've already cut off the fan grills and seen a 5 c temp change, and take out all the PCI slot covers (I have no PCI cards anyway) but there's nothing more I can do in the form of hardware, because I don't have any money and I won't for the next few months...

So can anyone help me? Noone on OCforums could help much, and I bumped the topic twice before it died out.

the video card itself may have the serial number on it--it's worth a look.

Is it possible the problem lies somewhere else? Try put in another vidcard, see if the problem persist. And also it doesnt hurt to try the 6800 on another computer.
 
Can't; Don't have a spare video card, my sister got it...

Could it possibly be my RAM? I recently got my second 512 stick, and it sometimes freezes or restarts when I load a new texture... I could try running memtest, but I built my computer without a floppy in mind, so I'd have to burn it to a CD. I tried using the ISO, but it didn't work.

I'm beginning more and more to think it's my power supply. I added another fan (Duck taped an 80mm fan on to the PCI slots) and my gpu temp actually went up. During loads though, it didn't freeze up quite as often. Could just be chance though.

I also got my serial number and registered it on the eVGA site... But their knowledge base was no help, and I haven't recieved a reply from tech support yet.
 
Judging by the info you provides it negates the poor airflow category :p

Did you do a clean format with a slipstream XP SP2 install when you got your video card or RAM? Is your ram timing too tight? Is there a BIOS update for your motherboard? Are all your chipset drivers up to date?
 
Yep, all of that is an affirmative. I think I found the problem though; I had to turn fast write off. I read up on it, and it seemed like znf-250 (i didn't have a znf-150, unbenkownst to me) had problems locking up when fast write was turned on. I tried running CSs and it didn't freeze up... I'm guessing that's a good thing.
