Whenever i try to push the resolution in Farcry and UT2004 to 1600x1200, my screen goes black with an error message saying:

"Signal Frequency out of range, Please change the timing".

I had a radeon 9700pro that died and i got the 5900xt for a bargain. I never had this problem with 1600x1200 resolution in gaming with the 9700pro.

Heres what i did:
1) changed refresh rates and did not solve anything ( max for my monitor was 75 Hz )
2) updated drivers and did not solve anything
3) underclocked the card and did not solve anything

Also i am able to have a 1600x1200 windows desktop but it's only when i try to play farcry or ut2004 at 1600x1200 is when i get the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

system specs below

Have you tried taking the refresh rate to 60Hz at 1600X1200 and running the game?

Install the monitor driver or manually set the refresh rates for your particular monitor.

Did you cancel the plug and play monitor driver installation when you first installed the card?

^yep its a bad refresh rate for your resolution or the video card monitor combo. Are you using an older monitor?
