i have a weird problem. i have a bfg 5900nu with a bfg5950 ultra bios. and its watercooled and at load it shows max temp at about 40C. i dowloaded some demos from nvidias website. if i download the one for the regular 5900, like vulcan for example, runs great. but if i download the 2 for the 5900 ultra. runs like crap for some reason. like 2fps. horribaly. i get good 3dmark scores and games run great. why do just the 5900 ultra demos run crappy.

Because they eat up a load of RAM, the GFFX 5900 Ultra has 256MB of RAM vs only 128 on the 5900. If you increase your AGP Aperature size to 256MB they will run better but not as good as with a 5900 Ultra because Video Card RAM is so much faster than the memory on motherboards, plus motherboard memory bandwidth is used for other things besides AGP texturing.

I just download GasStation and it does run crummy on my 128MB 5900 @ 480/980 (original 5900NU BIOS). When the building is in sight, the framerate plummets. Rotating around makes it run at full speed, but I guess that's missing the point. ;)

The amount of textures in the installation directory points to 128MB being the problem, which isn't helped even with AGP8X.

k good, i kinda thought it would be because i dont have 256 and only 128. just kinda got scared when those framerates went to crap. made my card seem alot slower than a 5900 ultra. and my core is at 525mhz. so i was wondering why:D

also i just put my gpu block on for my exos. im seeing idle temps at 29C and load temps at 40C, do those temps look about right?

how do you do that?

In your motherboard bios configuration, there should be an option called "AGP Aperature size", this sets how much system memory should be allocated to AGP texturing.

coldnt find it although i know its there...is there really a point? my friend says it slows up the card since it has to process more mainboard memory. if i do this i will finally have a complete 5950 ultra  .
