PNY 5900 non ultra
when i try to turn my option to 8x AA Frames drop terribly and i have no idea why. like in counterstrike my frames are stable 60 and then i throw a smoke greande and it drops to 20 . i have AF on 8x no problems but when i get even 4x it mildy slows down and there are some lines in counter strike that becomes visible even in 2x. i have v-sync on and 3d performence i dont currently have it overclocked due to a bad cooling unit. is there a fix for this problem?

so 4x should be ok? because even in 2x i get some but very little artifact lines in counter strike

Try it and see. Its really up to you. Some people can play with 30ish frames, some others demand much higher for smooth gameplay.

You could lower your quality settings, and see if that helps you to keep your 4xAA at a playable framerate.

Well shit, there's your problem right there... buy a card that can actually RUN those settings, and you'll be ok.

Nah, even that card should be able to run 4xAA fine in CS. What resolution are you running at though?

i have tryed running 2xAA on a 5900nu and performance was way better on even a radeon 9600np

That's because the 5900 runs almost as well as a 9600 XT, not a 9600 np.

im running 1204 x 768 on counter strike and 1600 and 1200 on UT2k4 ( i have a 22 " monitor :) ) yeah 4x seems to be fine in all the games thanks

lol i called PNY about refunding the card and they said they will send me a 5900 Ultra w00t!
