5870 available for $400+

there were XFX 5870 on newegg for 5 min, I was about to checkout but it was gone lol...
 
I'd wait, price will go back down. It's definitely good marketing...what they are doing is increasing demand by having few cards available, and making consumers pay a little bit more than what they would. They can do this because there is no competition. Definitely not looking good for the consumer trying to land one of these cards.

This isn't artificial, there really is next to no stock of these cards anywhere.

TSMC can't seem to make 40nm chips at decent yields to save their lives.
