Can anybody tell me what card is this. I am under the assumption with the stock specs is 5770. Cuz 5750 specs are lower. I am asking becuz at stock speeds I get glitches, and cant run benchmarks without it freezing and such. The actual benchmark is Ultra Street Fighter IV. The stock speeds are 930 and 1300. I have to downclock the card to 850 and 1250 for it to not glitch out and pass the benchmarks. At these speeds, the card seems to run fine. This is through the catylist control. Thanks for your time....

Use GPU-Z if you want more information.

But the 5770's actual (well reference) stock clocks are 850 core, 1200 memory.

Yea, the 68B8 DeviceID is an HD5770. I've had similar issues with clocks. Mine will both reach rather high speeds, and seem to be stable in things like FurMark and at high temps... yet real world tests result in driver crashes eventually :(

Been awhile since I overclocked them, but as I recall they benefited more from memory speed increases. If you can manage 1300 on the mem while leaving 850 on the core, that should help even more.

Thanks at limtedaccess and formula350. I was just confused becuase these are stock clocks when I press the default button. But I get game crashes, and artifacts in just 1 benchmark. So I actually had to lower them from stock to be able to run it better. Also when I looked at the card in the computer, its not one of those big cards that i am used to seeing, looks more like a stock card with a small fan..

Its more like the 2nd picture. I will run gpu z, and prolly due a format of drivers and see where I stand... Thanks, just cant figure out why stock clocks run bad....

P.S. Is there any good card I can replace with this with same power pin, and be able to work with a 450w PSU. and a phenom x II 1045T?

I actually have a gtx 680.... But looking for a newer similar card.. possibly a 7870, or 270x? not sure if its comparable. maybe I just upgrade psu... Still thinking.

Whats the intended usage though? If you want the highest performing card possible than the GTX 750ti actually uses less power. If you just want something for basic use than the cheapest card you can find is fine.

But it seems like your 5770 works as long as you downclock it, so you might as well just keep it and tweak it a bit.

Basically the factory overclock could be unstable. Maybe check temps first and repaste (if it's a heat issue). Otherwise just tone down the clocks to actual reference defaults (which you say works). If it's just for basic usage (non gaming) you might even just want to underclock it power reasons.

Well I actually plan to run a hyperspin/XBMC rig.. I would kinda like to stick with the amd brand. As I have a phenom x6 1045t. I also have a 3770k, dual gtx 680 rig. Thats my intel/nvidia rig. I like to keep it like this without mixing and matching. My card I would like to run, would be around the same year as the cpu. I dont know what it is, its like Im anal about these things. Like a pet peev. Aslong as my fighting games, and emulation runs really good, dont really need a too powerful card. But since this is my first amd/ati rig, thinking a couple things needed to be done then I be grand. As you see my previous post, I have been slacking alot and holding/hoarding new parts brand new in boxes for awhile.... I also was thinking of a 6990, cuz the 1045t seems to still be a beast of a cpu, maybe I OC it to 3.4 GHz.... That be a good setup for awhile.

Well the 6000 series was launched shortly after your CPU in the same year, while the 5000 series was launched the end of the year before.

A 6990 is not remotely in the same power profile and you'd need a new PSU for sure.

The 6770 is almost the same as the 5770 with some very minor differences. You might as well just downclock the 5770 to stable.

If you want to move up there's the 6850/6870 or 6950/6970. Although the latter you'd likely need to do more research into the specifics of your PSU to see if it'll work well (especially with OCing).

Thanks man, at limitedaccess.. I was thinking of the 6770. if you say its about the same, then no need to jump gun their? Just wondering why my casing isnt that big gfx style looking one, then a stock looking card with a fan. I might look into the 6850 area. Trying the PSU calculator.. I do need though the other pinouts.. cuz I think its a 6 pin and 8pin.

apparently the calculators with a 6970 needs a 462w psu recommended.
the 7970 uses only 414 watts
270x uses 397 watts.
280x uses 455 watts.

Seems like higher generation uses less power... Wondering if I should get rid of the pet peev, and just upgrade to a newer card... Hmm....

do you think xbmc and hyperspin needs alot of gfx power? More then likely i will not be playing the latest shooters. I am aware of that these games are the most power hungry fps benchmarks.

I'd stick with the 5770 and run lower clocks. The 6770 is basically the same chip with different firmware.

You don't really need a huge cooler on the 5770 as its rather low power. As long as the performance is fine then it's a better fit due to the lower thermal and power profile. Have you tried running the benchmark (SFIV Ultra) after tweaking the clock settings? You should have more than enough performance I believe. I'd just run it clocked at 850/1200 (actual reference defaults) since you shouldn't be limited by the performance for what you're doing.

There might be more next gen fighting games coming the PC (going by current trends) but since they are still a ways off just hold off for a better upgrade then and see what fits as new cards will likely be out.

Yeah I have tried running benchmarks at stick settings and lowered settings. That's how I found out the problem. At stock it would freeze up and stutter and artifact. At lowered settings it would pass with flying colors. I guess im trying to find that sweet spot now. What also bothers me alittle is this powerful 6 core in a measly energy efficient card... I picked it up for a sweet deal, but now if I'm upgrading I'm going to have extra parts again. Lol
