5670 vs 2900XT

My friends had a HD 5670 but it died, so he was looking for a new card. I have a old Radeon 2900XT 1gb and I want to give it to him. I was just wondering whats is going to be the performance difference between his 5670 and my 2900XT ?

Note: Hes got a 750w psu so hes good to run the card, he just doesn't have money to spend on a new card right now !
 
Probably not much of a difference except the 2900XT will cause his city to black out and the heat from it will burn him to death.

That's pretty unfair considering the GTX480 and GTX580 use more power than it... It might be as slow as a stone, but it's not the worst card for power consumption out there - just the worst in its day... :D

I make the HD5670 about a 30% increase over the HD2900XT, so he's going to lose about a quarter of his performance by making the switch.
 
He might as well upgrade since his card's dead. A Radeon 6870 should do nicely, especially off of the FS/FT forums.
 
Does said friend not have anymore warranty on the card? Those only came out early this year I think. Nowhere close to the at least 2 year warranty at most AIBs.
 
HD5670 came out in January 10, if it's only a one year warranty odds are good it's expired.
 
Ya guys he bought it as a pre-built PC from Newegg, It only had a one year warranty. He bought it April of 2010 so its good and expired. We'll guys thanks for the input ! I guess I'll get it ship to him and see how it works out =P Least we can do is try right ?

Here we thought Fermi took a lot of power! :eek:

I remember those beasts, with their 512-bit 'token-ring' VRAM bus architecture, AMD has taken this technology quite a ways from where it used to be. ;)
 
HD2900XT TDP: 215W - typical gaming load 175W,
GTX480 TDP: 250W - typical gaming load 250W, unrestricted load 300W+.

Fermi was much worse than the 2900s ever were.

lol, that is true, but still, the 2900XT was definitely a power-hog for its day and age. :D
 
I played Crysis on High at 1440x900 with my HD2900PRO. Not a bad card tbh, then again I came from a 7300GS :p
