Hey guys i got a intel P4 540 and when i am doining nothing it is around 35-40 degrees, and when i start to play a game it jumps to 50 or so is this the correct temperature for a 3.2GHZ HT? i am using the stock cpu fan with 120mm intake fan and 2 120mm exhaust fans.

My 2.8GHz runs at 42 with a Zalman 8000Cu HSF. So id say thats about right with a stock intel cooler.

The stock HS isn't worth two cents.

When I was using it, my cpu was idling in the mid 60's to mid 70's, and at one point reached as high as 80C.

I took it out and went with the Arctic Cooling Freezer, and it now idles in the 30's.

It makes that much of a difference.
