Hi, new to this board.

I'm sure SOMEONE has asked about this, but I used the search function on the forum and found nothing, so sorry if this has been covered a million times...

I'm looking to buy a prefabbed or build my own 5.25" drawer for storing things like tools/screws/jumpers/pens/etc. I can't find any place that sells them, and I don't feel like buying sheet metal/cutters to build my own, but I may end up doing just that. So, does anyone have any info they can give on this? Places to buy? Parts to use? Ideas? TIA

Havent seen any around, but sounds like a good idea... I might try using the shell from an old CD-ROM as it is already the right size, and get it to slide out somehow

I've seen em. About 2 years ago. I don't recall who made them, but they DO exist. I seem to recall someone connecting one to a CDROM to make it open and close with the push of a button, too.

There was arecent post on CD storage in a 5.25" drive bay. In that thread was linkage to some products and products sources. What you are after is a similar concept, so the may have similar products to what you are looking for.

Good luck with the search.

It's called the Senfu Superbox. (With a name like that, how can you resist?)

There's also a bay filler that holds three CD-ROM jewel cases. I picked up some cases that hold 4 CDs each, so I can store 12 disks in one bay. Cyberguys.com used to carry it, but I couldn't find it in their current catalog.

Thx for all of the replies everyone. Zamboni, that superbox is perfect! Thx so much, that will save me alot of time. :) Certainly there are other people who would be interested in something like this?

That Senfu Superbox is pretty cool IMO, do they have it in black anywhere?

I haven't found a place to buy the Senfu Superbox :( Looks like I'm gonna be gutting that CD holder.

Okay I cancelled my order on the CD holder tray and ordered an Ace Lock Box, that should be perfect. I'll post my thoughts on it once I get it :D

Welp, I got my Ace Lockbox a few days ago. Overall I'm happy with it. It's made from plastic and fits the 5.25 bay just fine. My only gripes are the drawer doesn't close flush with the enclosure, but that isn't really a problem once it is installed (see pics) and it didn't come with any screws, so I'm gonna have to dremel mine down so they don't rub against the drawer as I'm sliding it in and out (it's a little tricky to close it right now).

I painted the front face black after removing the lock and I bought a sheet of 2mm thick foam padding from Walmart for the inside bottom (so that stuff doesn't rattle around or anything). Here are the pics!

Do you know what would be cool?

If someone modded some sort of tray into the top of their case, then added a flip open door (like a cabinet, but door swings up away from case), and used that as a toolbox. I don't know if you understand what I'm saying, but basically like a tray that's an inch or two deep and maybe six inches wide running along the top of the case. Maybe add a lock too. Pretty cool stuff.

Very nice looking.

Great idea too, I hadnt even thought of utilizing one of those bays for storage.
