Hey guys.

Built coming up here when I get all the parts gathered.
I like rack mount cases since I have a couple 19"racks I keep audio gear in.
I have a smaller rack in my office that fits under my workspace nicely. I like racks and rackmount case because it has a real PRO look and all wires can be tucked neatly away.
But I have never run a system with a high performance air cooler installed.
This next build with be a 8 core Bulldozer with a Cooler Master Hyper 212+ cooler.
ATX AM3+ MB. Case will be a 4U size ATX server (rackmount in other words) case.
I'm concerning about the clearance for the cooler.
Anyone ever done a build like this?

Lian Li has an (almost) 4U case (with rack ears inclided) 30% off today only on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112352

The case comes to around $112 with the promo applied.

Unfortunately, Lian Li lists the max CPU height as 135mm, which is too low for the CM Hyper 212+. You should be able to fit a 92mm upright fan, however.

Edit: The Cooler Master Hyper 212+ is listed as 158.5mm high. The Lian Li case above is shy of 4RU by .43", or around 11mm. So you could figure that a true 4RU can fit up to around 146mm. As such, you are probably looking at between 4 and 5RU for that HSF.

I know that I have seen 5RU cases with rear 120mm ports, but I do not recall from where.

Yeah a HTPC case would be nice; but they are just too expensive. The last 4U case I bought was pretty descent and it was about $50. I'm hoping to find something something well under $100.
Thanks
