Here is my thread on another forum they said I should crossfire my 4830 instead of getting a 4890..

Now I am running this on a ud3p ep45 so crossfire is only 16x8 (or is it 8x8... either way o well)

I just wanna get another opinion.. Also if anyone is selling a 512mb Sapphire 4830 shoot me a pm.

Thanks and can't wait to help someone out on this forum to and expand my computer knowledge :) Thanks !

I'm currently torn between a multitude of options in the $250 range, one of them being crossfired 4830s. Everybody seems to be leaning toward the 4890 in my case, but since you already have the 4830, why not save some cash and crossfire your card? Hell, if you can fit 2 more in there, it'll cost about the same as a 4890 and I don't think a 4890 competes with 3x4830. Logic dictates a 2nd 4830 is in order, and getting a 4890 to crossfire with the 4830 will still be pretty much the same performance as having 2x4830 anyway.

Unfortunately the UD3P EP45 only supports crossfire with 2 cards... :( Thats why I was kinda wanting to get maybe a 4890 now, then in a about a month buy another and have crossfire 4890's.. BUT IDK lol. Its a hard decision for me I guess.

Well if I were to get the 4890 (I kinda wanna just because its new ya know? :p) I would keep my 4830 around and stick it in like my HTPC or w.e.

On the other hand... Dual 4830's is like one 4890 for only like 180 combined while the two 4890's are gonna be close to 500 bucks... 250 plus 250... I mean thats like 2 of my paychecks.. I hate being a teenager sometimes.

Ya, and what exactly do you play that is going to rape 2x4830? Crysis? How boring. Pretty much anything else should get gobbled right up by 2x4830, especially if you're not playing on a ridiculously large monitor running 2560x1600. Lemme tell ya, my current card, a 9800GTX+, still fairs INCREDIBLY well against newer games (I just got into Mirror's Edge, 1440x900 and I play with highest graphics and 2xAA without any hitches). Enthusiasts will ask why I still have a 9800GTX+, but my friends are asking why I would bother upgrading. I'm seriously considering the 4890, but for a good $50 less I can get a GTX 260 core216 and I'll definitely be happy with the performance bump.

Think sensibly, save the cash now and get a ridiculous card the next time around :)

I play at 1920x1200 so its still a pretty big res. I like to max out my games I guess, FYI I don't play Crysis, lame.

I suppose that 2 4830 would be the financially smart decision.
