I havent had a problem to complain about performance is great using 4x AA (12 edge detect) in the ati drivers and run all my games at 4x (TF2, COD4, Crysis, STALKER, WOW, AOC, WIC they all run great on 1920x1200 max everything the game allows (I have motion blur off in crysis )

They do make alot of heat but we all knew this before buying them, I dont consider the fan noise an issue since fan auto adjusting works fine, mid 50's on idle on the gpus, and 70's on the primary gpus and mid 80's on the secondary gpus underload, fan speeds up as required, it does make more noise but i dont play games muted so its kind of a moot point. on idle or playing music in windows there quieter than the cpu fan

the only time i see fan noise an issue on auto is your wearing headphones gaming and someone else is in the room

for what its worth, futuremark results for 4870x2 crossfire
3dmark06: 24685
Vantage: 21633

for reference, my 4870 crossfire setup previous scores:(840 core, 1100 memory on both cards)
3dmark06: 22547
Vantage: 16593

Driver release: 8.8b
CPU: Q6600@3.6ghz
Motherboard: P35 DQ6
PSU: Tagan BZ900W (No adapter)
OS: Vista X64
GPU OC: Stock

Game 1: Crysis
Settings: 1920x1200 VH DX9 0xAA
Low FPS: 8
High FPS: 80
Avg. FPS: 40
Problems: Framerate drops when using Binoculars, only recovers after alt/tab
Positives: When its working it is super smooth
Negatives: Load screen goes blank for 10-15 seconds before resuming game
Solution: Stopped playing Crysis.

Game 2: World in Conflict
Settings: 1920x1200 Max detail, 4xAA
Low FPS: 19 (only in benchmark)
High FPS: 85
Avg. FPS: 42
Problems: None
Positives: Not one single bit of lag.
Negatives: None
Solution: None.

Game 3: Assassins Creed
Settings: 1920x1200 Max detail, 4xAA
Low FPS: 30
High FPS: 60
Avg. FPS: Mid 50's
Problems: None
Positives: Not one single bit of lag after everything smooths out.
Negatives: Slight lag when first loading from a save-point, maybe lasts 10 seconds at most, 8800GTX didn't have lag.
Solution: None so far, not really a big problem.

Game 4: Battlefield 2142
Settings: 1920x1200 Max detail, 4xAA
Low FPS: 95
High FPS: 101
Avg. FPS: 100
Problems: Ghosting and weird lag at certain points in the game.
Positives: Never ever goes below the threshold of noticing FPS lag.
Negatives: What might be microstuttering, or just weird coincidental server lag.
Solution: Reinstalled 8.8b drivers, never saw problem again.

Game 5: GTR Evolution
Settings: 1920x1200 Max detail, 4xAA
Low FPS: 70
High FPS: 85
Avg. FPS: 76
Problems: With 4xAA in CCC with 16xAF, Alt/tabbing makes the game run at .1fps until I turn it off. In game AA works fine.
Positives: Not one single bit of lag.
Negatives: Initial stutter when leaving pits, isn't a big problem.
Solution: Turning off CCC AA and AF

EDIT: Added info on GTR Evo.
