Hello Houston we have a driver issue. :p

Wasn't there with my BFG GTX.
 
I get this sometimes if I change video settings, or alt+tab in Source games. I would try verifying the game cache files and defragging them through Steam first. Then see if it continues. if it does, then try reinstalling the cats.
 
Agreed with poster above, the shaders sometimes bork when you're changing settings in the source engine or have alt tabbed, what you're seeing is a broken shader which is applying the default texture which is a black/purpled checkered pattern, to the shader which makes the floor look shiney.
