4850 vs 4870 clock-per-clock?

Read a while back that a lot of people were interested, so...
Did a review of this ever happen?
 
Yeah, I would be interested myself. Not sure if someone has done a homegrown test yet. I did notice a few forum members that have both. Maybe we could coax them. :D
 
Im waiting on this too. It seems that with the 4870s significant GDDR5 bandwidth increase over the 4850 that a clock for clock test would have been done on release day.
 
What exactly would you find out with such a test? We already know that the 4850 is very bandwidth limited at higher resolutions but the GPU is essentially identical to the 4870 except for a fairly small clock speed difference.

well duh. the WHOLE POINT is to see what difference the bandwith makes since besides the core speed the 4850 and 4870 are the same.

Any time the 4870 is more than ~20% faster (core clock advantage) than the 4850, we know it's due to the increased memory bandwidth :)

no we dont. some games are memory bandwidth limited and some are not. every game is different thats why it would be nice to see the exact result of the increased bandwidth in popular games at various settings.
 
Clocks and performance don't have to scale linearly.

But from that XS link, it looks like the 4870 is faster at ~7-11% at the same core clocks vs. the 4850
