4850 Temps

I recently bought a new visiontech 4850, with the stock heat sink and 35% fan, i am getting around a 65ish idle, and an 82ish load, I remember reading whent hey came out that just remounting the heat sink and putting on quality paste can lower temps, does anyone have any examples of this?

those temps are normal, even low especially for the load. I would leave it alone and keep your warranty intact as well

Remounting and TIMing it may decrease temps by maybe 2c, the temps are completely normal.

Hmmm. I don't know. I bought a Visiontek 4850 during the sale at BestBuy (damn, never seen that many computer nerds in one place wrestling for those cards) at with my fan speed set at 35% this whole time; I idle at 49C and at load I'm at 57-59C.

I have really good airflow in my case; so that's a big factor. And once I find a screw driver I'm going to apply some AS5 to it....

Replacing your GPU Heatsink will not void your warranty. Of course, just remember to put the stock one back one.

I would use more than 35% when running games. It's very likely the card peaks at something much higher than 58C in games but unless you actually log the temp, you won't catch it. I just use the default Auto mode. The card idles at 72C with the fan at 5% and when running games the fan speed increases to anywhere between 35% and 60% depending on the game and scene.
