I am running Asus motherboard, with AMD 64 3200 chip, eVGA 6800 GT, 2 hardrives, CD ROM, DVD ROM, Audigy 1 soundcard, and 4 80 mm LED case Fans. will a 480 W power supply be enough.

480W Powmax?

No.

I'm using a 450W Powmax lol.

Thank gosh my Thermaltake 430W is coming on Friday.

I think 350W is enough. You can get a really good 350W for the same price as a crappy 480W.

Think: FSP

I don't think a Thermaltake is that much better....

Oh come on... If I had 10 Powmaxes I'd trade them for ANY one Thermaltake.

Not in all cases, Some motherboards do require more than a mere 350w psu, Take the Supermicro H8DCE motherboard for example, Supermicro says It needs at least a 645w psu, Nothing less, Some have tried to buck that and found they would have trouble down the road. As It supports dual cpus & dual core and 32x SLI(each pci-e video slot will do 16x) and I've read that 7800GTX cards use over 150w each and cpus can use as much as 125w each, So 350w doesn't seem to cut It anymore. But then I'm going to buy a Silverstone 750w psu for My H8DCE in August(It's currently idle). :D And this doesn't even take overclocking into account either as then the amperage requirements go up. And I do overclock.

Two threads in a row about your supermicro?

ANy rate to address a few "issues"

What Silverstone? You may be in for a world of hurt as well.
