480 GTX SLI causing computer crashes

I am using a pair of 480 GTXs in SLI. Each card is working perfectly by itslef (Furmark stable) but whenever they are used in SLI mode (Furmark multi GPU, games) the system would crash to black screen right away and requires hard reset to get back to window. Both official and beta drivers provide the same result.

My PSU is Corsair 1000W. One card is connected to 12V1 and the other to 12V2. I have tried to connect both card to 12V2 but the system would freeze as soon as SLI is selected in NVIDIA control panel.

My system is listed in my signature. Is my PSU not enough or is it a driver issue? I have successfully use 460 GTX SLI without any problem.
 
Your PSU is enough no question. Perhaps its the bridge connector? What is do you have going in your system? If you have tons of fans/hard drives that might be hitting the upper ceiling of that PSU. Are your GTX 480's overclocked? Overclocking a GTX 480 make it draw a lot more power.

I did have this issue when I first enabled SLI allooong time ago. The issue was my power supply. But with a 1000WATT powersupply I think it could be driver related. Did you by anychance uninstall and use driver sweeper 2.5.0 prior to the driver update from offical to beta?

Did all of that and tried the last 3 driver versions. Same result :(
 
Download and install the latest x58 chipset drivers from intel and install those as opposed to the drivers from your manufacturer. Make sure all of your bios settings are good especially the primary video setting, If your processor/chipset/ram are overclocked try putting them at stock settings.

Look at your event viewer to see if anything is logged in reference to the freezing and crashing. If you have afterburner/precision/riva tuner/nvidia overclock utility, remove the program/s completely, from the registry and start menu and then do a complete clean install of the nvidia forceware dirver. Do not install any of those programs until you have rooted out the problem.
