I'm looking to purchase a 42" HDTV 1080P and would like to know what some of the better quality name brands/models are. Thanks.

for what?
For night time movies, better viewing angles, blacks and motion? (panasonic plasma)
For daytime bright environment tv watching or pc monitor substitute? lcds (cheaper models with fewer and defeatable enhancements are better for this)

Just for basic bluray cable viewing, no pc hook up.

Panasonic PLASMA TXP 42G20 or V20 or if you want 3d capability 42GT20, 50VT20

Thanks, would you happen to know which stores sell the 42g20 model? I searched online and couldn't find any.

It looks like the G20 doesn't come in a 42" size: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-...-HDTV-Series.147542_11002_7000000000000005702

If you're up for some research then hit up the AVS forums:

So I purchased the 42" G25. One thing though, it is a MONITOR not a TV. It doesn't have a built in antenna. I got rid of cable TV (just have cable internet) because I don't really watch anything on cable but I do hook up my laptop so I can watch HULU on it.
I would like to watch the local news on the monitor (TV), what's a good cheap HDTV antenna?

I found this one but would like to know if there is a cheaper alternative? Terk HDTVa Indoor Amplified High-Definition Antenna for Off-Air HDTV Reception

If your lcd is just a monitor (without a tv tuner) you would still need a tuner and not just an antenna to tune in over the air hd channels. For my PC tuner I just use a cheap rca brand antenna (not amplified either)http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_...3h&srccode=cii_5784816&cpncode=24-132931899-2 and I get all the over the air hd channels nice and clear ( Im located in Los Angeles and I get a good line of site to broadcast towers so...
