Im not a newbie to overclocking or building

I am building a computer for my friend and he wanted it over clocked

Its a m2n-SLI deluxe board running a 4000x2 am2 and Patriot ddr2 1150 memmory

Found max board and max mem clocks

memory works fine at 1200 mhz and the board is great at 300 fsb

however the cpu just sucks

works fine at 2.4ghz with 8x multi on the above settings

HT multiplier is at 3x althoughn im sure 4x would work

If I up the multi any higher then 8 it just wont post no matter how much voltage i pump through it...heat is not a problem

wierdest part is when i put it on 9.5 x

9 gives me 2700mhz like it should but 9.5 jumps it to 3150

wtf?

the other wierd thing it does is nvmonitor reports the cpu speed at 100 mhz higher then cpuz does...

cpuz also reports memory running at a raw speed of 480 mhz and nvmonitor reports 1200 mhz for ddr

any ideas or has anyone used this board as I have hear4d some rumors of odd things happening on this asus board
