1. What will you be doing with this PC? Primarily gaming.

2. What's your budget? < $900 is my goal

3. Where do you live? Boston/Maine

4. What exact parts do you need for that budget? CPU, RAM, MOBO, Harddrive, Case, Power Supply, DVD Drive.

5. If reusing any parts, what parts will you be reusing? Visiontek 4850 or possibly Gigabyte 470 gtx oc.

6. What specific features do you need in a motherboard? RAID? Firewire? Crossfire or SLI support? USB 3.0? SATA 6Gb/s? etc. I think I would like USB 3.0 and Sata 6Gb/s for future compatibility but not too important. As long as its not an expensive feature (over $10 more).

7. What resolution output do you need? 1920 x 1200. Would like dual monitor output capability, possibly tri-monitor.

8. Does this system need to fit into a particular space? Think entertainment center shelves, closet space, rackmount, etc.
I'd like to be able to stick it anywhere.

9. How comfortable are you with custom case design/modification and electrical wiring? I'd prefer to do minimum case modding because I have little experience in that.

10. How important is the noise/silence of this sytem? I would very much like it to be quite. For comparison, my main PC is a Lian Li A-17 and I'm very happy with that level of noise. Anything near that level would be great.

11. How mobile does this system need to be? I'm going to use air cooling, handles are not important. Mobility is not too important.

12. Do you already have a legit and reusable/transferable OS key/license? Obviously legit.

13. When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Immediately, in a couple weeks, 3-5 years? Within a week or 2. May start buying parts today.

I'm thinking of holding off on the SSD for now just because (the good deal for that 96GB is expired) and, I'm justifying this build by keeping the price low.

Also, I saved $50 by getting the 23 inch HP instead. Total price should be fairly low, perhaps $800

The SG07 needs a laptop sized DVD drive, correct?

N/p, man. Yes, the SG07 needs one of the little fail slim drives. I say fail because they don't work as well as standard-sized drives. Read the reviews before you pick one out. They are also more expensive than standard drives.

The ASUS H61 is a Mini-ITX motherboard. The SG07 takes Mini-ITX motherboards. Go get some rest, sir.

That link in that comment is a mATX board. That board under that link is a mATX board and i guess ASUS also has ATX board that uses H61 chipset. saying that "ASUS H61 is a Mini-ITX board" is strange.

Edit: Also what about this to replace case/power supply.

It's actually cheaper and may be better quality (I currently have the Lian Li A-17 and a Corsair 620HX which I enjoy a lot).

Are there any downsides to this over the SG07?

The Q08B was my choice of case before I went with the Rosewill + a 150W Pico PSU. With that case, you're going to probably want to go with a modular PSU, those extra cables will suffocate the airflow.

Good point, I kinda assumed it was modular. It doesn't seem like the price for modular PS are very cheap. I could purchase a non modular for my current setup and steal that modular PS.
 
I'll be honest with you, go ahead and go with the SG07. Don't worry about the slim DVD drive, the biggest problem with them was the failure to open when pushing the button. You can open the drives from inside your OS, anyway.

For what reason? Does the SG07 have a modular PS or is it that the PS is designed for the case.
 
The PSU is designed for the case, obviously. However, you will still have to do some crafty cable management to make it all fit.
