So i just did 3dmark06 on my system (AMD computer in sig) and without SLI i got

3DMark Score-9205 3DMarks

CPU Score-1904

And with SLI i got

3DMark Score -9802 3DMarks

CPU Score-1857

Are these numbers on track with what you see in my sig for my system? If it matters, when 3dmark was doing the CPU part of the test..it was SUPER choppy and was SOMEtimes getting 1fps whats up with that?

for my system sli sucks ass unless it is at native resolution 1920x1200. Don't know why but it does.

Im more wondering 1 is that a typical SLI improvement, 2 are those numbers where they should be considering my system, and 3 whats up with the 0-1fps CPU part of the test

06's sli scaling is nonexistent, that is your answer.

cpu test...well that's just how it is. It's CPU emulation of a graphical engine, which would be like trying to run a race while dressed for mountain climbing.

Thanks guys, i have no experience with SLI or 3dmark so i didnt know any of that. Now i do.

Uh? From my own experience with 9800GX2 and 3870X2, SLI on/off makes a big difference in 3DMark06.

I would assume your 5200+ is going to bottleneck your sli setup quite a bit.

Yeah i did assume that, down the road il upgrade my CPU to the best that can be in my Mobo, so i knew to begin with SLI will make a bigger difference then than now. Just when i saw my 3dmark numbers (with SLI: 9802 3DMarks) they seemed very low for a 8800gt SLI setup, but maybe it will spike up when i eventually get the better CPU. Also does it do that lagging 1fps for everyone on the "cpu" part of the test?

your CPU is not very strong, might be bottlenecking a 8800gt never mind SLI'd ones. What games have you got that you expect to improve with SLI ?

very true. OP you arent even getting all that a single 8800gt can do with that cpu. sli is nearly a complete waste and the fastest cpu you can get in that mobo is probably just a faster clocked X2. in other words you still wont be getting all that a 8800gt sli can offer.

Well i already know it has improved at least one. My 8800gt (single) is strong but would waver with COD4, FPS typically at 60 but would average out more like 45-50 i would bet. Now with SLI i noticed it sticks to 60-61fps 98% of the time.

Uhh not really...the highest CPU recommended by ASUS for the M2N-sli Deluxe is the Phenom X4 9950 but tons of people have been putting in Phenom II's with full success but they just arent in the recommended CPU list for the latest mobo driver. Id say even just the Phenom X4 9950 is a huge huge jump from my stock 5200+ dual core in performance and in reducing bottleneck a lot, if not fully. And i plan on eventually upgrading to the Phenom X4 9950 or similar down the road.

yeah the 9950 would be a decent upgrade but still noticeably slower than the Phenom 2 cpus.

I would assume your right, but i dont want to deal with the hassle of a non supported CPU..and anyways that computer is my Main rig, but once Win7 comes out my second rig will be my main. So the AMD comp will be my backup/project rig, so a phenom II for it would be excessive.
