I hear that futuremark will realise a new benchmark test
3dmark 2004 :p
 
Actually it seems in this release they are trying to correct the criticisms leveled at them for 3dMark2003. Only time will tell whether they succeed or not.
 
Id like to see what futuremark can do with a real game. That would be interesting.

What do you think Max Payne was? It all started with Final Reality. If you don't know what that is you haven't been gaming long. Futuremark came from Remedy Entertainment, who worked the Max Payne concept for years and created the Final Reality benchmark, which was suceeded by 3Dmark99.
 
is 10k + too high of a score for 3dmark???

why not keep the same benchmark so people can compare different generations of vid cards accurately?

They don't scale in a linear fasion perpetually.

Ive been "gaming" For over 15 years. But i dont keep up on the drama of futuremark or its beginings. If you say an offshoot made max payne i believe you :)

Wasn't being an ass, sorry how I came off :p You don't remember Final Reality though? It was the "big" benchmark back when RIVA128 and Voodoo1 were the shizzit. During the benchmark, there was a building with a Max Payne poster. Early advertising.
 
Ahh final reality, I remember that. It is seriously old school, I recall running it on my 350mhz k6-2 with my 16meg voodoo banshee and being impressed.
