3dmark scores / bottleneck?

I recently just built a new system:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice 90nm (Socket 939)
Epox EP-9NPA+ nForce4 (Socket 939) PCI-Express Motherboard
GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200
Sapphire ATI Radeon X850 XT 256MB (PCI-Express)

I ran some 3dmarks (default settings 1024x etc)

2001 se: 22435
03: 11813
05: 5870

Is the card performing well? I have being playing cs:source and some other games and thought the fps might be 100 90% of the time but it drops to around 60 in places etc. Is it me expecting too much or is the card doing well. Someone said my 3200 bottlenecks the card but some other people said its fine and doesnt bottle neck it.
Im just curious to know if its working well.

The average score that I have for the X850 XT is 6,416 but that is because everyone who has one overclocks it.
The three people (out of 17 scores) who did not overclock got around 5,800.

The average OC for that card is 570/590.

thank you for the welcome, I just found this forum while randomly searching google and it seems to be a decent place. I was just wondering about the scores in 3dmark. Ive wanted a good pc for a while now so I decided on my new spec.

My old spec:

AMD Athlon 2000+
Abit at7
Ati radeon 8500 agp4x
512 ddr

so my new one is a boost, in cs:source and hl2 etc I got around 10fps with the old one :( which made them unplayable. I thought the new pc I got would perform abit better than it is, I just installed the new nforce4 drivers (had mobo cd ones in) and it seems to of made an improvement (3d mark score went up a few hundred).

do you have the link to that tomshardware bench with the 4000 by anychance please
 
i got a
2600+
512mb ram
6800gt

and its perfectly fine. im sure theres a huge bottleneck but i really dont care
 
ye I suppose it doesnt matter if your happy with it, I seem to look at fps too much it kinda takes the enjoyment out of the game. Im a games programmer at uni you see so I pay attention to details and I payed alot of money for the new pc so I want it to perform to the best of its ability possible :)

what exactly do you mean by:

means apples to apples is same settings vs same settings on the same resolution. hardocp find the differnt resolutions/af to be playable and then compares them
 
Just compared my spec to the toms hardware guide 05 scores:

NO AA / AF
1024x768

Toms: 5925
Mine: 5870

---------------

4x AA / 8x AF
1024x768

Toms: 4922
Mine: 4790

---------------

4x AA / 8x AF
1600x1200

Toms: 3225
Mine: 3175

Not much difference there considering im running a 3200+ and there running a 4000+. They also use a sata hardrive (dunno if that makes a difference) and I use a ATA one.

It's the way 3dMark-05 is built, CPU and memory have very little to do with the score in -05 :)
 
I can't believe people still care about 3dmark scores... :confused: But anyways if you are happy with the way your games play great, if not, guess you will have to do some tweakin
