I just installed my Core 2 DUO E6400 chip on system and first think i ran was 3DMARK 2006 and noticed that my CPU Scores dropped by 250+:confused:

Before This i had Pentium 965 EXTREME EDITION Processor and my scores were :

SM 2.0 2700-/+
HDR 2806-/+
CPU 2600

AFTER installed Core 2 DUO my Scores looks like :

SM 2.0 2720-/+
HDR 2830-/+
CPU 1850

Here is my Setup

Asus P5W DH i975
4GB OCZ PC2-6400
EVGA Geforce 7950 SLI
4x SATA RAID
ZALMAN CPN HSF
 
I have NO idea how you managed to get a CPU score that high with a PEE. My friend has the same processor, (stock, mind you) and he's only pushing 1300.

I think something is wrong with your old numbers, personally. Coming from a 2.8Ghz Athlon 64, my 3dmark 06 CPU scores doubled.
 
I just got an x6800 with 1900xtx in crossfire got a score of 10326 is that what i should be expecting?

Thats your Overall score or just CPU ?
 
I think you have something going on then. Here are my scores from the 955XE and X6800.


X6800 @ 3.8GHZ = 3342

955XE @ 4.3GHZ = 2351

Why exactly would this be needed for swapping from one dual core to another?
 
Its always best to get the optimal performance from your system for reinstalling your OS when you are installing significant new HW (mb/proc especially)

Not needed, as ive seen it work - but it has been said that it is best.

When going from AMD to Intel , also more then anything is best IMHO, to reinstall your OS.
 
are your dx9 files up to date, run>dxdiag and you can find out there

I really don't think it'd be an issue when switching from one Intel Dual Core to another Intel Dual Core. Changing mobo's I always reinstall, also going from single to dual core it might be a good idea. Otherwise, I think you're going through all of that trouble for nothing.

That said, it seems a few people feel differently. I might do a fresh XP install onto another partition and do some benchmarks to be sure.
 
I would start with reinstalling Intel drivers and checking DirectX files. I just swapped my mobo and X6800 just like you and everything worked fine. I didnt even have problems with raid so I would look @ the drivers first.
 
Reinstalled the OS and All the Drivers from A-Z and results look the same . But When i OC the Processor from 2.13GHz to 3.04GHz, the Reults have boosted in performance. Maybe it the low Clock speed of this CPU, but still it dont beat the scores of my old 965 Extreme Edition clocked
