Hi, i'm about to start majoring in 3D animation and I'm looking for approval and advice on what I've got my eye on. I've got a lot of money saved up for this, and decided to not risk screwing it up by building it myself. I've customized a rig from www.monarchcomputer.com and it goes as follows:
Case: Thermaltake Modern Life Style XaserV Series-Damier w/Window
Power Supply: SPI Sparkle FSP460-PFN-EPS 460 Watt
Motherboard: Tyan Thunder K8W S2885ANRF AGP 8X AGP PRO IEEE AMD 940-pin
Processors: Dual Opteron 250 (2.4ghz)
Heatsinks/fans: Thermaltake AMD K8 Venus 7+ Highest Performance Cooler
Memory: 4GB (4pieces of 1GB) pc3200 REG ECC Corsair (TWINX2048RE-3200)
Drive 1(system): Western Digital 36 GB 8MB 360GD Raptor SATA 10K RPM
Drive 2(storage): Western Digital 250GB SATA 8 MB Cache 7200 RPM
Drive 3(storage): Western Digital 200GB SATA 8 MB Cache 7200 RPM
CDROM: Lite-On 16x DVD 48x CD-ROM
CD/DVD-RW: Plextor PX-712SA-BPS DVD±RW 12x4x16x-DVD±RW/48X24X48-CD-RW
Sound Card: Creative Audigy 2 ZS 24BIT
Video Card: PNY Quadro FX 1100 128 MB DDR/8XAGP/DVI
Add On: USB 2.0 5 Port add on PCI card
OS: WinXP
Again, I'm looking for recommendations, criticism, and any other related information.
Thank you
Alex
