What is the cheapest solution to get 3D capable for mostly movies? Not trying to push bf3 or anything like it.

Just saw the Star Treck movie on Imax and want to be able to do it at home, on a much smaller scale lol.

I have an Acer GD235HZ and a 7950. Need glasses and software right? The glasses have been tough to figure out so far. It isn't like nvidia where they have their own already. Not sure what the best combo would be here.

Thanks

Thanks. Figuring out what glasses looks tough. Not sure what would even work. Probably should just forget about it. Wanted to watch Beowulf in 3d and later the new Star Trek when it comes out.

Seems that AMD cards support 3D over HDMI 1.4a and DIsplayport. I think that's your biggest hurdle.

As you've picked up on, long story short, you will not be able to use that display in 3D with an AMD card. AMD uses frame packing, which that display does not support. However, if you do decide you want to try Blu Ray 3D on AMD, all you need is a 3d tv with compatible glasses. Because the blu rays are already encoded in 3d, you do not need any additional software beyond your bluray software (assuming it's 3d compatible). However, if you want to play games, then you'll want to look into 3rd party software, such as the aforementioned tridef solution.

That being said, I have a Nvidia powered 3d surround setup at home and an AMD powered 3dtv at work, and I must say, the Nvidia solution is much easier to work with.
