I have a Samsung 753DF (17" CRT) and a Radeon 9800 Pro. I set my refresh rate to 85 Hz through the ATI control panel, but when I go into CS with vsync on it's only doing 60 fps (meaning the OpenGL refresh rate is somehow set at 60 Hz); how can I force my monitor to go 85 Hz both on the desktop and in 3D, specifically OpenGL, applications?
 
first turn vsync off.
second, bring down the console.

type fps_max 400 or whatever timerefresh gives you...
type developer 1 (this will allow you to go over 100FPS)

and for the hz issue, download refreshlock to override refresh rates for whichever resolution you desire.
 
Yeah I meant this only happens when I have vsync on (otherwise it goes to 200 or whatever fps_max is at); I fixed it with Powerstrip. Thanks!
