hum...i don't want to pay for testing a 3d benchmark is there a free/similar version that i can test my comp with
 
3DMark is free, but if you wish to unlock certain features or select individual tests then yes you have to buy it. You can still compare your scores and participate without paying for the full version.

do you belive that the pay version is worth it casue ill just write it off as an office expence
 
I haven't paid for it. I use it maybe a couple times-- after I buy a new video card. And how can you justify a benchmark as an office expense?
