3930K overclocking

I'm building a ESX server with a 3930K, stability is key here, but a 3930K without a little bit of overclock is a waste :)

What program do you guys recommand for testing the overclock stability, i usually use Prime95, and Memtest86+.

What would be a really easy and trouble free cpu frequancy for this cpu?

You definitely want IntelBurnTest as well.

What kind of board are you using?
 
I have been easily able to run several 3930k at 4.2 ~1.275v which is undervolted from what the boards originally wanted to give them at auto, rock solid P95 Large/Small/Custom blend and IBT extreme with 90% memory for 24 hours.
 
The MB is a Asus P9X79 (standard), with 32GB (4x 8GB Corsair CMP32GX3M4X1600C10)
 
Ditto on the IBT! Prime95 is definitley great for finding stability well into the 17th hour, but IBT does a great job in much much less time.
 
Prime 95 is a better stability test for these than IBT.

I run my 3930k at 4.8Ghz, 1.38vcore, on the p9x79 pro. Prime stable for over 24hrs and folds 24/7

No reason not to run both P95 and IBT to determine stability. Also, if the OP is planning on running this as an esxi host, I'd make realllll sure that it was stable oc'd (maybe an extra 24 hours+ of burn-in on multiple burn tests) and hopefully not have any critical vm's running on it, as even with a stable overclock, most people aren't thrilled with the notion of doing that for a vm host.
 
Hello I wanna overclock my 3930k to 4.8-5 ghz, for now i reached 4.4ghz with little change on voltage and other few parameters. Run with watercool.

Where can i find a guide to do so?

A guide that explains the different parameters awayable in the bios? And what to change to reach a higher stable clock.
I have a gigabyte x79 UD3 motherboard. Already saw a video on how to OC on a asus mobo, but the names of the options I have in the bios are different.

is there a guide that explains them?

Can you say me what to change and what change affect what?

I have a bit experience with oc of GPU's but I see to push a cpu it's much different.
